Imagine having a state-of-the-art computer and only using it to play Solitaire. Absurd, right? Actually, that’s not uncommon in many companies. Not because employees sit on their computers to play Solitaire, but because they’ve got the tools to do a really great job and often neglect to use them. We were guilty of that, by the way. Recently at Rootstack we decided to revamp our website and make it more captivating and interesting for our visitors: not just for the visual appeal, but also for the information we offered.

People don't access the Internet exclusively from their computers anymore: they are also using smart phones, tablets, smart TV's and video game consoles. New devices with different resolutions and technologies are launched frequently; creating and maintaining a website for each and every one of these devices is almost impossible. This is where the "responsive web design" concept comes from: instead of making custom designs for each device, we can design one for an optimal experience that adjusts to the device that accesses it.
