Challenge
Being such a complex business and with such specific requirements, our client detected the need for a much more flexible, scalable, and fast platform to handle the main aspects of the company such as the sales and inventory area, for example. When Artecasa raised their situation with Rootstack, they were using the ERP called Peachtree, a client-server platform.
Our solution
Our experienced engineers at Rootstack implemented ERPNext since it is a platform that allows the progressive adoption of different modules, being able to execute the project in phases.
The Sales, Purchasing and Inventory module was installed and the implementation of the Accounting and Human Resources modules was pending, which will be carried out in a later phase of the project.
We develop various custom-made functionalities because this industry is quite particular, with specific needs. For example, we created functionality that allowed them to take certain products out of inventory after they had been reserved, which for the company was a fairly specific requirement.
One of the benefits of ERPNext is that it is a fairly stable and scalable Open-Source ERP, which allows modifying modules already made on the platform or developing your own modules adjusted to the needs of your company.
The best thing about using a web ERP is that it is much faster, all the data and processes are on a single server. It can be in the cloud, accesses to the platform are much faster and it is easier to scale in a web environment.
Online catalog and reporting
They already had a website, but the Rootstack team also created an online catalog with the company's products, using the ERPNext e-Commerce module. At this stage, the company did not want to create an online store but did want customers to be able to view product inventory online. Various custom adjustments were also made for the particularities of the marble industry.
In addition, our experienced developers modified various aspects of the reports, so that the client could meet their expectations of how they wanted to see the data.
Mobile app
This project also involved the development of a custom mobile application to be able to capture the price of the products in the Artecasa showroom. Through the camera, the application reads the barcode of the product, showing on the screen all available information about inventory, reservations, and purchases, among other details.
For this task, ERPNext's web services were reused, but its web services were also made within the platform because of how this was needed to consume the data.
