Challenge
our client already had an app, however, they needed to refresh their image to target younger users as a brand and host their services in the cloud for better management, thus increasing the security of their services and processes; and reducing costs.
It is for this reason that the banking institution decides to hire a third party for the development of its app, with the new fresh image and features that they wish to offer their users. The main characteristic that this will have is that it will be hosted in the AWS cloud, which will make it more secure and scalable for subsequent changes that they wish to develop. Therefore, it was required to have the experience and knowledge to implement the sections in the cloud.
Solution
As the app was developed by the third-party software provider hired by our client, Rootstack was deploying the deliveries and doing the corresponding tests for each sprint.
This process must be done by a party other than the developer company, because the developments created by the company are evaluated and tested based on the client's requirements. Here Rootstack provides its services as Devops and QA, to directly deploy and test the deliveries in the company test environment, in the AWS cloud where the entire operation of the app will be hosted.
In this way, our client controls and limits access to company information and systems, and Rootstack can have a real controlled environment for live user tests, as will be reflected later in the AWS cloud.
Technologies
The methodology used during the project for the gathering of requirements, development, and implementations was Scrum, the tickets were worked on in Jira and Rootnet for some parts of the project.
The technologies, tools and languages used throughout this project were: React, Objective-C, Java, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Jira, Rootnet, Confluence, AWS, S3, Cloudfront, Docker, ECS, EKS, EC2, Load Balancer, Cloudwatch, Json, among others.
Two Rootstack collaborators were involved in this project, a DevOps and a QA, who with their skills were able to carry out the respective deployment of each phase of the project on the Banesco server hosted in the AWS cloud, and thus carry out the tests in an environment real controlled with the corresponding test users.
This was a project where we participated as Devops and QAs for our client's online banking mobile app. As well as this successful project, we have more in the banking, financial, and insurance sectors, among others.
